This is the secret history of Wessex.

Edgar’s on the throne, England is in some state of unity for the first time in its history, it’s fifty years before the Danes show up, and a hundred before Bill carves modern England out of the chaotic tangle of domains.

This is an England plagued by monsters, existing in that brief hundred-year-period when the Mad Arab’s Al Azif has just been translated into Greek but before Patriarch Michael orders it burned.

In a millennium, these villages will be totally forgotten, as if they never existed.

Hopefully, the villagers’ victories against the darkness will not be similarly undone.
